Joint Pain Myths

Anyone who suffers from joint pain has probably spent countless hours researching what brings them some kind of relief. Though there is a lot of information out there on this ailment, some of it is true and some of it is fiction.

Is exercise detrimental?

A common myth surrounding joint pain is that exercise can worsen pain. Pain is usually the body's response to harmful activity. That does not mean that exercise is not beneficial for joint pain. Exercises like yoga are often quite beneficial, increasing blood flow and promoting healing. Under a doctor's supervision, exercise may even bring joint pain sufferers some relief.

Is joint pain always arthritis?

Joint pain is not always an indicator of arthritis. There are numerous causes of joint pain, ranging from auto-immune disorders, such as fibromyalgia, to more serious ailments, such as bone cancer. Always check with a doctor when experiencing joint pain, to receive proper diagnosis and treatment.

Are pills the only way to find relief?

In today's pharmaceutical-obsessed society, it is hard to think of life without prescription pain medications. However, joint pain has always existed, and there are more natural ways of dealing with the pain. As previously mentioned, exercise, in addition to a healthy diet, can lessen joint pain.

Although there is no way to prevent chronic joint pain, there are ways to help. By avoiding false information and concentrating on what really helps, you are sure to find some relief. Always remember to talk to a licensed physician before starting any self-treatment plans. Your health is in your hands.
